QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS 2013-06-27

 QUESTION
I am hoping to apply for a Marine commission around September, but have a long way to go physically especially with my pull ups (I can barely do three now). I was wondering what you might recommend to get in shape overall, and whether or not it would even be worthwhile for me to order the USMC plan now with such a low pull-up count.I’m 6’4 and 205#, and have been following your Army basic prep plan for the last three weeks as I was strongly considering the Army before learning about the Marine opportunities.

Thanks
– C.

ANSWER
I’d recommend our Bodyweight Training Plan – It’s no joke and a great place to start.

QUESTION
Rob

I stumbled across a post on Reddit.com about your program and then checked
out the website.  Although I’m not deploying anytime soon I am curious about
the Afghan Training Program.  It never hurts to be prepared prior to needing
it.  How do I go about reading up on it?

Thank you

– J.

ANSWER
You need deployment orders to receive the plan for free. It is also available at our website store: http://militaryathlete.com/page.php?page_ID=12&cart_category_ID=52&&cart_ID=83

QUESTION
Hi Rob,

I am pretty close to securing a REP63/18X contract with the Army National Guard, which will allow me the opportunity to attend SFAS sometime in the future.

I will most likely be purchasing the Ruck-Based Selection Training Program, however I’m still figuring out what to do before beginning that program, as I still don’t have any contract signed and no ship date yet for BCT.

Hopefully you can give me some advise on what you think is the best way to transition from my current workout regimen (CrossFit 3-5 days a week, run 2-3, swim 1-2 days). I’ve been doing CF for about 6-7 months and do level 2 and 3 CF workouts. Should I just jump into the Operator Sessions? I see there’s a military athlete for CFers program for purchase, but I’m trying to figure out if that’s to adjust to the impact the workouts will have on my body, or of it’s more a technical primer for the movements and workouts done in the Operator Sessions? I don’t know if I’ll have time to do the 8 Week Intro Program, do Operator Sessions after, and then pick another objective-based program as I near my upcoming schools and challenges.

Best Regards,

– N.

ANSWER
Best would be to jump on the Operator Sessions. Start with the latest strength cycle.

8 weeks out from SFAS, do the Ruck Based Selection Program.

QUESTION
Hi Rob,

I have noticed you have been updating your programs of late v1,v2,v3 etc.

I have your skinny guys program that I bought from you circa February 2011, question is
has the program for skinny guys been updated?

and I am around 70kg(155/160 pounds) and 6ft tall (I am of slim build) , so I am in definite need for it. I am just skin and bones at the moment. 2nd question then is, What is an ideal weight I should be at?

And is 4 weeks on 1 week off 4 weeks on again ok to do for the program? I have no phys test at all during this time, so I am ok to pursue Operation Get massive hahaha

– G.

ANSWER
The version of the Skinny Program you have is fine.

I’d like to see you at 185-195 pounds.

Yes – you can repeat the program. It’s no joke!

Make sure you eat like a Sumo Wrestler!!
