Introducing the New Members of the MTI Team

To drive the cycle of continuous improvement at Mountain Tactical Institute, we’ve brought on two new staff members. We’re excited to introduce Anna and Charlie to the team.

Anna Woodring comes to MTI from the University of Georgia Strength and Conditioning team, where she coached the UGA Football team. As a member of the S&C staff, she helped the team win back-to-back national championships. Before UGA, Anna was a USMC Officer with several impressive accomplishments during her time in service. Anna will serve as the Head Coach & Researcher at MTI, leading training and lab rat studies at the Fieldhouse, a veteran and challenged athlete-focused nonprofit facility located in Boise, ID.

Charlie Bausman is a returning team member to MTI. He served as USMC Officer, followed by service as a Firefighter/EMT. His business experience includes operations and business development roles at Amazon and tech start-ups. At MTI previously, Charlie worked as a multipurpose player focusing on coaching, programming, research, and operations. In his current role at MTI, Charlie will serve as the Chief Operating Officer focusing on mission-direct business growth.

Anna Woodring
Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

Anna Woodring, originally from Ellijay, Georgia, is a highly accomplished strength and conditioning coach and researcher. She holds a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Kinesiology from the University of Georgia. There, she worked with the UGA Football Strength and Conditioning team, contributing to the success of the 2021 and 2022 National Championship teams.

Before UGA, Anna served as a commissioned officer in the US Marine Corps. During her time in the USMC, Anna obtained certifications as a water survival instructor, force fitness instructor, high-intensity tactical trainer, and certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). Notably, she was the first female to pass the PTI test with the British Royal Marines and completed MARSOC A&S. With her extensive experience, Anna trained over 400 Marines to prepare them for deployments, selection processes, and subsequent schools.

Currently, Anna serves as the head strength and conditioning coach and researcher at the Boise, Idaho Fieldhouse in partnership with Mountain Tactical Institute. In this role, she delivers programming to the MTI tactical and mountain athlete communities. Anna’s expertise and dedication enable her to not only provide exceptional coaching and training but also contribute to the development and testing of programming while conducting valuable research to further develop athlete performance.


Charlie Bausman
Chief Operating Officer

Charlie brings experience as a tactical athlete, coach, and in business to contribute to the success of Mountain Tactical Institute and its athletes.

His business background includes operations roles at Amazon corporate and tech startups, as well as running his own small business. As a coach at Mountain Tactical Institute, Charlie worked with high-level Mountain and Tactical Athletes providing coaching, programming, and leading research projects for athletes across the globe.

As a tactical athlete, Charlie served as a Marine Infantry Officer for five years followed by four years of service as a full-time Firefighter/EMT. Over a decade, he has also dedicated himself to the disciplines of Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, and Muay Thai. He is an avid mountain biker and subpar fisherman.

He resides in Missoula, Montana, alongside his wife and son. He is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) amongst other S&C Certifications. Currently, he is pursuing an MBA at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business
