Base Fitness Program Design for Military Athletes – Video Course
$109.00
Course’s primary goals are
(1) Understand from the 10,000 foot level, MTI’s approach to program design for military athletes, and;
(2) Deep Dive into of MTI’s meso cycle, day-to-day, “Base Fitness” programming theory and design for military athletes and the know how to program and train multiple fitness demands concurrently.
Course’s focus is on Macro (multi-month) and Micro (multi-week) programming. Individual training session design will not be covered.

Description
Course Learning Objectives
1) Understand the reasoning and methodology behind MTI’s chosen fitness attributes for military athletes. Identify those attributes, and define each in real-world, relatable terms. Be able to apply this methodology to military athletes and their mission sets.
2) Macro-Cycle Programming Theory – understand the concept of “Base Fitness” and the theory/methodology behind focused mission/event specific fitness and cycles directly prior to events. Understand the application of Fluid Periodization at the macro-level (multi-month to a year).
3) Practiced capability designing balanced and fitness attribute emphasized: “Base Fitness” Meso Cycles (7 weeks) under the Fluid Periodization paradigm and methodology. Understand the larger theory/approach behind Base Fitness design and discuss how it can be applied in students’ own work/environment.
Course’s primary goals are (1) Understand from the 10,000-foot level, MTI’s approach to program design for military athletes, and; (2) Deep Dive into of MTI’s Meso Cycle, day-to-day, “Base Fitness” programming theory and design for military athletes – how to program and train multiple military fitness demands concurrently. Importantly, this course will not cover individual training session design, but rather multi-month and multi-week level programming.
This is an advanced programming course designed for experienced, practicing tactical strength and conditioning coaches, Unit Fitness Leaders and experienced functional fitness military athletes. This course is not appropriate for new coaches or inexperienced military athletes. Familiarity with MTI programming is an asset.
Course Schedule
Hour 1: Macro Cycle (Multi-Month) Programming Theory
(A) Fitness Mountain Introduction and Explanation: Identifying the differences between “base” or day-to-day military fitness and “mid-mountain” or “event/mission-specific” fitness for specific mission sets, PFT’s, selections, schools, etc.
(B) Macro Programming Application of Base Fitness and Event/Mission-Specific Training Cycles Throughout a training year
Hour 2: Meso Cycle (7 Week) Base Fitness Program Design
(A) Identify and Define the Base Fitness Training attributes for Military Athletes (Relative Strength, Work Capacity, Endurance (run/ruck/swim), Chassis Integrity (functional core), Tactical Agility
(B) Meso Cycle Fluid Periodization Introduction
(C) Focused Meso Cycle Programming Instruction – Designing 7 Week Base Fitness cycles to train multiple military fitness demands concurrently and with cyclic emphasis
(D) Applying Meso Cycle Base Fitness Programming Design at the Macro level, i.e. how to plan and stack multiple Base Fitness cycles together to create a Macro Cycle (multi-month) program.
