RANGE FITNESS CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK OF 7.22.13: “GUN FLAVOR”
(1) Range Fitness Event:
Standard: 12 Hits on Target
Target: 8″ Round Metal target, 80 yards, (10 MOA)
Ammo Limit: 20x Rounds in one Magazine
Time Limit: 2 minutes
Procedure:
Athlete loads weapon, locks bolt forward and lays on ground or bench. Then he does this….
4x 15-yard Shuttle Sprints (2 round trips)
3 Hits on Target Prone
2x 15-yard Shuttle Sprints (1 round trip)
3 Hits on Target Seated
2x 15-yard Shuttle Sprints (1 round trip)
3 Hits on Target Kneeling
2x 15-yard Shuttle Sprints (1 round trip)
3 Hits on Target Standing
Athlete cannot move to the next set of sprints and shooting position until he registers a the required 3 hits on targett. He can fail to meet the standard for time (120 sec) or rounds (20x).In other words, he can run out of time or run out of ammo.
Comments:
In this event, the shooter can run out of time (120 sec) or run out of ammo (20x bullets). To meet the standard, he/she has to hit the target 12 times – so only 8 misses are possible. Miss 9x, and you can’t meet the standard.
Both myself and Jordan were able to meet the 3x hit standard on our second attempt – but barely. I finished at 1:59, and Jordan at 1:58. You can’t linger on this one – sprint hard!
