Lab Rats Needed To Test Weight Loss and Performance Impact of Intermittent Fasting

SORRY – NOT ACCEPTING ANY MORE LAB RAT APPLICATIONS FOR THIS MINI STUDY.

By Rob Shaul

MTI is calling for remote lab rats, ages 22-50, for an upcoming, focused, 3.5 weeks, 5-day/week Mini-Study testing the performance and weight loss effect of intermittent fasting.

This mini-study will begin Monday, November 29. The deadline to apply is 1700 Mountain Time, Monday, November 22, 2021.

Priority Lab Rat selection will be given to current MTI Subscribers, and/or athletes with extensive experience completing MTI training plans.

Details

  1. All lab rats will complete the same, multi-modal, 5 day/week training cycle. The Cycle will include strength, work capacity and endurance assessment and progressions. The program will be a limited equipment plan built around kettlebells and/or dumbbells and sandbags.
  2. All lab rats will follow the same diet and meal plan build on  of MTI’s Nutritional Guidelines. Under MTI’s nutritional guidelines the type of foods/drink you may consume will be restricted, but not the amount. The guidelines have no caloric restrictions … i.e. – you shouldn’t be hungry, you just can’t eat crap.
  3. Half the lab rats will additionally follow a program of 16:8 intermittent fasting – where they can only eat between 12 Noon and 8PM, and fast from 8PM to Noon.

At the end of the study, the weight loss and performance improvement results between the two groups of lab rats will be compared.

What We Hope To Learn

  1. If there is a weight loss and/or performance advantage to intermittent fasting.
  2. How difficult it is for athletes to stay on a 16:8 Intermittent fasting schedule.
