At age 60 with 2 artificial hips – it was a great push

SF45 ALPHA

“Just completed SF45 ALPHA-HOTEL.  Took awhile and – at age 60 with 2 artificial hips – it was a great push – challenged me and pissed me off but was great (cannot ask for more than that).  Took a week in between programs and will am heading for HUMILITY soon. Cannot state enough how fortunate I am to have been with you and MTN TACTICAL for years now.  You continually garner my admiration for the relentless pursuit of the best programs over a range for professionals.  I did 38 years active duty in the Marine Corps and over 60 months of combat and 2 hard rehabs from wounds/injuries.  Your programs have always – ALWAYS – been in the core of my daily ethos.”

Feeling stronger than ever

CHASSIS INTEGRITY TRAINNIG PLAN

“I just wanted to drop a note to say that I really took to heart your chassis integrity theory.  I actually used to follow your programming when I was a tactical athlete back in Afghanistan.  Now I’m the head coach of a prenatal and postpartum strength and conditioning program.  We applied the theory to how we format our conditioning in our prenatal and postpartum strength and conditioning program, and we have had a lot of success with it. Our athletes are less affected by the discomforts of pregnancy and the postpartum, and are feeling stronger than ever.  We had a mom tell us she picks up her baby now without pain. While our athletes aren’t tactical or mountain athletes, the functional demands of pregnancy and motherhood require a stable and strong core, and this theory was the missing piece for us.”

I am going to continue following with Military athlete’s programs because they work!

“I wanted to thank you for your 5 week Goruck Training plan. I just did the Goruck Challenge 10/27/12. Class 300, and I can tell you that your plan not only helped me physically but mentally also. When I first recieved the plan and started looking through the workouts and how they progressed I thought to myself ” no freakin way !”, but when I actually did them I realized how much I was capable of and it changed my outlook on the challenge itself. After your workouts I was more motivated and excited to do the challenge because I knew I could do it. Your plan helped me focus on the task at hand and not dread the whole ordeal. I’m 43 and have had knee and back injuries that caused some concern but I believe your plan also kept me injury free because of all the core and leg work. You were right I actually started to love the sandbag getups, what an awesome exercise ! I am going to continue following with Military athlete’s programs because they work ! Thanks again.”

Thank you for taking the time to create this plan

Greetings Rob!

Several weeks ago I purchased your GoRuck training program and put it to use. Your training program was well worth the money and was essentially an investment in me and my fitness. The five week plan had prepared me for the challange so well I had the energy and strenght to encourage/assit others who were not as ready to meet the physical demands. At the end of the 8 1/2 day I still had plenty of strength, stamina and endurance left making the challange extremely enjoyable, so much so I have already signed up for another one. Thank you for taking the time to create this plan.

Next time, I’ll try to ensure that my t-shirt logo is more legible!

Rob, I just wanted to say thanks for all the work you guys put into the workout program. My wife and I have been following it for about 2 years now and love it. She scales the workouts and calls it “MilitaryDependentAthlete.com”, since she’s not in the military. She’s scaling the workouts even more now, as she’s pregnant. I thought you’d appreciate the linked photo too. Since I don’t own the rights to the photo (the photographer asked us to use them only for “personal use”), it’s not website-material, but you may like to see the military athlete promotion. It’s the podium shot from a cyclocross race I did last weekend. I was only following the military athlete workouts, with no specific ‘cross work, but still managed to win the single speed category and came in 6th overall (out of about 35 in the race). Next time, I’ll try to ensure that my t-shirt logo is more legible!

Just wanted to take some time to say thank you for all you have done

Rob, Just wanted to take some time to say thank you for all you have done.  I started following your programming in 2008 while deployed.  Since that time I have used your APFT plan to more then max the APFT on multiple occasions, I used your Ruckselection plan to get selected, while in the q course I got a stress fracture and used your one leg program to come off the injury stronger and faster, and I have recently used your run improvement plan to help me get better.  During all this I continued to follow the operator sessions and they have made me into a more stronger and more durable athlete.  So thank you for what you do and please continue evolving your training!

Firstly let me thank you for all that you and your lab rats do

Firstly let me thank you for all that you and your lab rats do, I love your programming and your methodology has inspired me to become more professional in my training. I have successfully used your lower back and body weight training plans with great results and attempted to make it through the hypertrophy program, but the rep/set scheme was a little much for me at the time, planning on knocking it out in the near future.

I have had great success using your programs and have always made gains

Good Morning Rob,

I’d like to start by saying that I have had great success using your programs and have always made gains as applicable based on the program I was using. I have been following your Q&A sessions online, and there seems to be a recurring trend of people asking questions about weight, and now I have one as well. I noticed while doing your USMC PFT plan that I dropped down to about 205 lbs. Now after some leave I am working through On-Ramp and am hanging out right at 215. My height is pretty dead on at 6’1.5″ when I do my annual weigh ins. The overall questions I have are: What is a 10lbs spread for the various heights that we as your athletes could use, similar to your strength goals of weight vs bodyweight? Secondly, since we all have different body types, what are some visual cues on our bodies that we can be looking for to know that we are in a good place according to your programming?

– N

ANSWERS:

Height Bodyweight
5’5″ to 5’7″ 150-165
5’8″ to 5’9″ 165-180
5’10″ to 6′ 180-200
6’1″ to 6’3″ 205-220
6’4″ to 6’6″ 220-235

Visual Cues – I really have none – in general, if guys are much heavier than these guidelines, they either have too much upper body muscle mass, or too much body fat around the waist. If they are lighter, they are likely “hard gainers” and/or have an endurance background, and can use more mass.

Understand these height/bodyweight numbers are not “standards,” but rather guidelines I’ve developed over the years for a military/tactical/LE/Rescue athlete. I’ve found guys in these height/bodyweight ranges generally have good relative strength, good stamina, and good endurance – they aren’t great at anything, but are well rounded and well prepared for the “hybrid” demands of the job.

This Big 24 was a no shitter.  Love it

Rob,

From this passing strength cycle I got 285# HSC at a body weight of 185# for the 10-09-13 session.  I exceeded my PR Squat Clean of 275#.  I can honestly feel comfortable saying from the ground I can get 295#-305#.  This Big 24 was a no shitter.  Love it.  Thanks.
