MTI Internship / Mentorship Opportunity, Ogden, UT

Location: Ogden, Utah
Duration: 2–6 months (flexible)
Compensation: $1,500/month stipend

Mountain Tactical Institute (MTI) is launching a new fitness laboratory and programming workshop along the Wasatch Front in Ogden, Utah. We’re offering a limited number of internship/mentorship opportunities for those interested in being immersed in the development, testing, and refinement of cutting-edge strength and conditioning programming for mountain and tactical athletes.

This is not a coffee-run internship. You’ll be fully embedded in our programming workshop—personally lab-ratting programming, contributing to mission-direct research, coaching athletes, and helping document and share findings. This is a rare opportunity to build your skills and resume while learning from MTI’s unique approach to fitness craftsmanship.

Most important, you’ll live, breathe, and eat strength and conditioning programming. This is a high-level, total-immersion, programming-focused experience. You won’t be saddled with deploying a head coach’s programming—you’ll be in the weeds from the start: beginning with programming theory, transferring it to paper, testing it in real training, and iterating to improve it. Programming is the heartbeat of strength and conditioning coaching. At MTI, you’ll learn, develop, and apply max effort strength, strength endurance, work capacity, aerobic endurance, and core strength programming across multiple athlete types and mission-sets.

Who This Is For

• Current students, recent grads, transitioning tactical athletes, or professionals exploring strength and conditioning as a career.
• Transitioning military athletes – We are a program of record with the SOCOM Fellowship, and pending approval from the DoD Skillbridge Program
• Scholar-Meatheads—those rare individuals who not only love to train but are also deeply curious about the science and craft behind elite fitness programming.
• People who understand that real progress comes from humility, hard work, and uncomfortable reps—on the whiteboard and on the floor.
• Individuals who already follow MTI and align with our mission, values, and approach.

What You’ll Do

• Participate in strength and conditioning sessions—testing and documenting programming in real time.
• Assist in programming development and refinement for tactical and mountain athletes.
• Conduct research (academic and practical) to support and inform programming decisions.
• Coach athletes through training sessions.
• Support content creation for social media and the MTI website (video, photos, writing).
• Answer athlete questions and assist with customer service as needed.
• Take part in seminar-style coaching discussions and programming-focused learning sessions.

What We’re Looking For

• Physically and mentally tough individuals willing to be challenged and coached.
• Strong communicators who are comfortable giving and receiving feedback.
• Grit, humility, and professionalism.
• A background in coaching, military/tactical work, mountain sports, or other performance-focused activities.
• Familiarity with MTI’s mission, philosophy, and training methodology.
