Do These 4 Things. Your Life Will Get Better.

By Rob Shaul, Founder

These suggestions are simple. They’re not easy. But implement them, and your life will get better.

1. Stop Eating Processed Sugar

Cut it out completely — in food, drinks, condiments, sauces, salad dressings. Check every label. Food companies, restaurants and recipes lace sugar into everything, even milk. It makes food taste better so you eat more, thus buy more, thus make them more money.

You’ll crave sweetness. Use sugar-free alternatives — Splenda, diet soda, sugar-free condiments. My go-to is diet coke.

Are artificial sweeteners good for you? Maybe not. But they’re better than processed sugar.

Avoid fruit if you can. The sugar in fruit is still sugar. It’s slightly better only because it comes packaged with fiber and thus isn’t as condensed.  But it still spikes insulin and adds fat.

Stop eating processed sugar and you’ll shed bodyfat. This will improve everything – load on your joints including low back, movement – walking, running, jumping, getting up from a chair, and the way you feel about yourself.

2. Train Daily

Ideally, first thing, after coffee, but before breakfast.

Training everyday will make you move and immediately improve mental health.

You don’t need 60 minutes, train for just 30 minutes. And you don’t need to join a gym or get equipment …. Just go for a brisk walk or easy jog, or do 30 minutes of sqats, push ups, sit ups and a run circuit.

Best is to find a training plan and follow some structure, but even that isn’t needed. Just train, daily.

3. Stop Scrolling Social Media

Just like the food companies lace everything with sugar to get you to eat more, the social media company algorithms are fine-tuned to learn what makes you look and feed you more of it so you spend more time on their platform so you can see more ads so they can charge advertisers more and therefore make more money.

Don’t feel bad if you’ve caught yourself droom scrolling for way too long. Our minds can’t resist the lure of the algorithms. They only way to stop is not to start. You’re mental health will improve and you’ll get more time in your day for sleep and exercise.

4. Go to Sleep at the Same Time Every Night

Most people naturally wake up around the same time. That means the only sleep variable you control is when you turn off the lights.

Be ruthless about your bedtime. If you function best on 7 hours and wake up at 0500, you need to be asleep by 10 PM. No compromise.

Tell the people around you. They’ll respect your boundaries if you do.

Netflix won’t. Social media won’t. Work won’t. Be an asshole to them.

You decide when your day ends.

Final Word

Do these for a week. You’ll feel the shift.

Do them for a month. Your life will be better.
