Director of Research/Strength & Conditioning Coach
The Mountain Tactical Institute in Jackson, WY invites applications for a Director of Research position focused on researching training factors that affect mountain and tactical athletes’ mission performance.
We are looking for an agile, innovative thinker, who has ideas that buck industry trends and question convention. Our athletes and the staff staff are mission focused and we’re looking for applicants that are the same and understand the uniqueness of athletes that work in the mountains, outdoors, fire grounds, battlefield and other unpredictable settings and conditions. Technical/Scientific education and research experience required.
Your research efforts will be multi-faceted:
- Fitness programming
- Mental fitness and stress innoculation
- Event Nutrition
- Mountain/battlefield safety practices and instruction
- Sport and tactical movement efficiency
- Gear/materials testing and analysis
- Wilderness/tactical medicine
- Technical skills instruction
Applicants must have a masters degree or Ph.D. from an accredited U.S. institution, research experience, and strong academic accomplishments. This is a hands-on position as well as academic. You’ll be coaching athletes and will eventually require NSCA CSCS. Our staff is a group of “Scholar Coaches” who enjoy both the research/academic and practical, results-focused training sides of our work.
Experience in mountain sports is desired, but not required.
