The Mountain Athlete freeride team returned from their first competition of the season at the Subaru Freeride Series in Snowbird.

Kaki Orr, Morgan McGlashon, Forrest Jillson and Cooper Kahlenberg all received  Sickbird nominations, Crystal Wright got “run of the day” in the womens’ ski finals, and seven of our athletes finished in the top 10.

Cooper Kahlenberg, in just his second season on the tour, made it to the podium with a strong third place finish in his first event this year for his impressive riding in the the men’s snowboarding division.

Skiers Sam Schwartz and Monica Purington both cracked the top 10 and had their highest event finishes ever.

Kaki Orr missed all of last season to a knee injury, but at Snowbird was sitting in 3rd place after the first day. A fall during the finals knocked her out of podium contention, but overall, her Snowbird performance demonstrated she’s back on her skis and confident.

The next event is a Freeride World Tour 4-Star Qualifying comp scheduled for Feb 27-Mar 1 in Taos.
